Agricultural and Forest Lands’’ to celebrate our achievements and share valuable insights in tackling climate challenges.

About the LIFE OrgBalt Project:

The project focuses on demonstrating how sustainable management of nutrient-rich organic soils in the Baltic States and Finland can help mitigate climate change. What to expect?

June 13:

  • Keynote Session: Why is it necessary to address organic soils in climate change mitigation action - where knowledgeable and experienced representatives from the European Commission and the Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia will provide insights into the latest developments:
      • Lucia Causey-Hugecova, Climate Change Officer, European Commission
      • Emanuele Lugato, Scientific-Project Officer, European Commission – Joint Research Center
      • Dace Arāja, Ministry of Agriculture of Republic of Latvia
    • Session 1: GHG Emission factors - methodologies and results (representatives of Germany, Finland, Estonia and Latvia)
    • Session 2 - Mitigation strategies and assessment tools
    • Opportunity to engage in a Panel discussion - Opportunities and challenges for the implementation CCM measures - with policy planners from the Baltic states and representatives of forestry and farmers' organizations.
    • Ample networking opportunities throughout the day.

June 14:

    • Exciting site visits and excursions to demo sites in forest and agriculture lands
