From September 3 to 5, Minister of Agriculture Mr. Janis Duklavs participated in the informal meeting of European Union ministers for agriculture and fisheries where member states discussed risk management measures in the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after year 2020.
Minister of Agriculture Mr Janis Duklavs stressed that reduction of agriculture risks must be one of the basic principles of the CAP. EU needs to equalize direct payments between the Member States as there is no justification to maintain differences in direct payment levels. Minister emphasized that direct payments have an important role in securing stable income for farmers in times of different challenges and crises.
