On Monday, March 17th, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Ģirts Krūmiņš met with representatives from the Ukrainian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, the Ukrainian State Forest Resources Agency, and the State Ecological Inspectorate to discuss Latvia's experience in creating a multi-functional sustainable forestry model and the potential for cooperation with Ukraine's forestry sector.
The officials discussed Latvia's experience integrating into the European Union (EU) and implementing EU regulations on forest cutting. They also discussed the introduction of digital solutions in forestry, including the importance of remote sensing and data exchange in monitoring and controlling forestry activities.
During their visit to Latvia, the Ukrainian delegation will also learn about the work of JSC "Latvia's State Forests," the State Forest Service, the Rural Support Service, and other industry institutions.
